Content Management
A content management system (CMS) is a web application used for editing a website's content and works much like a word processor. They can range from a simple personal blog to a powerful, complex site running tens of thousands of pages with hundreds of editors.
The freedom to edit your website when you want without going through a 3rd party has great benefits aside from saving time. By keeping your website up-to-date you can increase the credibility of your online presence and search engines love fresh content thus helping your search rankings. This is why a CMS powered website is becoming more common today than they have ever been.
There are many high quality content management systems available on the market today from open-source software to proprietary solutions. For most scenarios, open-source or proprietary solutions are the most cost effective way to go rather than custom built.
VINSIN recommends three content management systems (although we can work with many others); MODx Content Management System, WordPress, and MovableType. Because of their flexibility and popularity, WordPress and MovableType are effective blog based content management systems suitable for small scale projects. When it comes to something with a bit more kick, we like to use the powerful and highly flexible open-source MODx CMS to handle small to enterprise scale websites.
Pricing
Implementation for a site content management system starts at $3,000. This does not include a custom layout and design. Implementation of blog based systems start at $1,500 and a custom layout and design starting at $2,000.
Pricing for custom built content management systems are handled on a case-by-case basis and are determined by a project's specific requirements.
